About Laura
Laura Tirello is the Owner and Founder of Core Life Design, a purpose driven company founded in 2008 with the mission of providing education and support to people who suffer from IBS and other digestive issues.
I accomplish this mission by introducing people to stress reduction techniques and other coping strategies to handle the emotional and physical discomfort that IBS creates in their daily lives.
My clients are smart, creative, and driven people who are being held back by the emotional impact of IBS. I assist them in breaking out of their self-imposed molds and re-connecting with their life.
Background
I grew up in the city of Philadelphia. After high school, my love of traveling began. I went to college in Washington, DC and then transferred to a college in New Mexico where I earned my bachelor’s degree and lived for 4 years. I have since lived in New Jersey, Texas, and Bucks County, PA.
Being a creative type, experiencing new places feeds my soul.
Though I was always free spirited at heart, I spent most of my time doing the “right” thing in every area of my life.
As a self-described over “doer”, I know first hand what it is like to work well under pressure and adapt to environments that are not a match with my natural talents. On the first day of my first career, I knew intuitively in the “core” of my being that this was not the work I was meant to do, but felt a strong sense of responsibility. Over the course of a decade I positively impacted the lives of the children and adults I worked with, but I still was yearning for a different experience in my life.
Change felt hard; especially when you spend too much time trying to be perfect. So I ignored the messages my body was giving me and denied my true calling. This created not only needless stress; it also had an impact on my overall health. For many years, I suffered from IBS and excessive worry.
This constant struggle created a desire within me to make changes and explore new options. That decision led to a journey of self-discovery, self-renewal and life reorganization. Through this process, I began to recognize the impact of years of accumulated thoughts on an individual’s circumstances.
The effects of over thinking and over doing have a powerful effect on our mental and physical well-being. And it was not until I began using mind body based techniques that my IBS symptoms improved and my excessive worry decreased.
In my work with numerous clients (and myself), I have found that the key to creating a healthy life from the inside out is a balance between a scientifically based mind body approach and identifying where pleasure is lacking in our lives. It is when you learn to stop criticizing yourself and start connecting with your mind and body that you can heal physically and mentally. And that’s where the fun begins.
