My Approach:
From my own experience with IBS I have learned that there is a direct link between my IBS and the amount of pleasure I allow in my life. For years I constantly stifled my passions, desire, and important parts of my personality for the sake of doing the right thing. At the core of this my actions were based on a fear that the real me was not enough. This constant pressure and emotional suppression caused tons of stress on my body and I suffered from IBS and excessive worry for many years. When I finally uncovered the secrets of the mind body connection I was able to build a life I wanted. A key factor in this accomplishing this was allowing myself to desire things and allow pleasure to be an important part of my life. The more I released the emotional baggage and piles of shoulds that I had been covered by for years, the more my IBS symptoms improved as well as my overall health.
I combine the scientifically based mind body approach with identifying where pleasure is lacking in our lives to create a unique recipe where you can connect with your mind and body to create a healthier lifestyle full of freedom to go after what you truly desire.
What does this have to do with IBS you ask?
IBS is a legitimate medical condition that is diagnosed by your doctor. Your doctor can discuss causes and medications with you. I am not here to diagnose or give any type of medical advice. If you have symptoms that seem like IBS you should visit your doctor.
Here’s where I support my clients: It is well known that there is a correlation between stress and the IBS cycle. Even people without IBS notice stomach upset when they feel stressed.
I work with my clients in uncovering the triggers behind their stress and getting very clear on what they actually desire in life. This is a two-step process. In step one we focus on identifying the source of their mental stress and discomfort. By doing this they begin to recognize when their body is responding to stressful thoughts and situations. By making this connection to their body they can learn to handle their stress before it wreaks havoc on their already sensitive IBS or other digestive condition.
Step two includes both identifying our true desires and allowing pleasure in our lives. This step makes our bodies feel free. Without all the tension caused by worrying about what we can’t have, we become open to new experiences and our minds begin to de-clutter/quiet. When we experience life from this place of receiving, our bodies begin to relax and we begin to heal. It is, in essence, becoming our natural selves.
